Controller-Manufacturing

Position Overview

Ledgent Finance & Accounting's client is actively seeking an experienced Controller to oversee all financial operations of the organization. The Controller will ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulatory standards, and strategic financial planning. This role is critical in supporting operational efficiency, cost control, and profitability across the plant and broader organization.

Responsibilities

  • Financial Management:
    • Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
    • Manage general ledger, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
    • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
    • Monitor cash flow and working capital needs.
  • Cost Accounting & Manufacturing Finance:
    • Develop and maintain standard cost models for raw materials, labor, and overhead.
    • Analyze production costs and identify cost-saving opportunities.
    • Partner with operations to improve inventory management and reduce waste.
  • Compliance & Controls:
    • Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal policies, and external audits.
    • Maintain internal controls and implement process improvements.
    • Oversee tax filings, regulatory reporting, and insurance documentation.
  • Leadership & Collaboration:
    • Supervise accounting staff and support professional development.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, procurement, and HR.
    • Provide financial insights to support strategic decision-making.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred).
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in food or manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of cost accounting and ERP systems (Sage preferred).
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Experience managing audits and leading small finance teams.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with FDA, USDA, or other food industry regulations.
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma principles.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment.

Required Work Hours

Monday - Friday, 1st shift.

Compensation

The pay range for this role takes into account the wide array of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. A reasonable estimate of the current base salary range is $200,000-$230,000. The role will also have a bonus compensation component.

This position is a supervisory role.
